ESTABLISHED IN 2016 BY SYDNEY FISHMAN AND EDEN DEERING, DUPLEX IS A NOMADIC CURATORIAL PROJECT THAT ILLUMINATES EMERGING ARTISTS’ VOICES PROVIDING SPACE FOR EXPERIMENTATION AND EXPOSURE. DUPLEX WORKS CLOSELY WITH ARTISTS’ TO REALIZE SITE-SPECIFIC EXHIBITIONS THAT CHALLENGE AND EXPLORE CONVENTIONAL WAYS OF VIEWING. DUPLEX DESIGNER HOLLIE POLLAK CREATES DIGITAL AND PRINT MATERIALS THAT WORK IN DIRECT CONVERSATION WITH THE CURATION, EMBODYING AND ELEVATING THE VISION OF EACH SHOW.
DUPLEX HAS WORKED WITH HUNDREDS OF ARTISTS MOUNTING SITE-SPECIFIC ACTIVATIONS IN COLLABORATIONS THAT INCLUDE VISUAL AIDS, THE BOX, P.P.O.W., SARGENT’S DAUGHTERS, MARINARO GALLERY AND THE ZAHA HADID BUILDING ON THE HIGH LINE.
IN 2021, DUPLEX TOOK A SPACE IN CHINATOWN AT 17 ESSEX STREET - THIS SPACE WILL HOST A SERIES OF EXHIBITION BY MULTIDISCIPLINARY ARTISTS.
