THE WORK

Referencing my own sexuality as a queer male; my recent work outlines all aspects of my sexual self as I’ve explored. From porn fantasy, to considering my own body; this work aims to map out my relationship to my gender and sexuality.

Aluminum bottles are a vessel. Playing on the notions of being, “bottled up” and “message in a bottle”- my transformation has made these phrases verbatim. The process of carving into the metal and embedding images inside. Then creating a window that is blurry or clear in order to abstract or expose. My work is constantly at odds with itself as to conceal or reveal. Nonetheless- the image; the feeling, is there. Much like we are as humans yearning to express ourselves but feeling the weight of a patriarchal society limiting our expression, challenging our true nature.
